Preparations for the St. Ignatius Day
Left: The Three Masters: Frs. Nemy Que, Manoling Francisco, and Arnel Aquino.
Loyola House has been busy the past days with the preparation for the St. Ignatius Celebrations this sunday at the Ateneo Highschool Covered Courts. We are expecting about three thousand people to attend the event. This is “triply” (is there such a word?) special because it is the Jubilee Year of the First Companions: St. Ignatius, St. Francis Xavier and St. Peter Favre.
Fr. Manoling composed a haunting melody entitled THE FIRST COMPANIONS which I think will become an instant hit among choirs. It is haunting, sad and mysterious.We’re also preparing for our own presentation that night. We’re going to sing Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up while we show photos of our Jubilarians this year (including Fr. Cy Unson who celebrates 50 years in the Society).
You Raise Me Up
Josh Groban
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
You raise me up… To more than I can be.
