The Eternal Battle of the Mind and the Heart

8 May 2007 No Comment
Got this from Maan’s blog. Hmmm. Really true. Or at the very least, it’s something to think about. People have told me to always follow my heart. And indeed many of my decisions have been “heart” decisions.

At the same time, every decision I’ve made have been well thought out–discerned. I don’t make decisions blindly. Or at least not without enough data to come up with something tentative at the very least. Data is all we have. And indeed knowing is half the battle won. But we still have to say YES. And live with the YESes of our lives.

In the end–and I do believe this because this has happened to me before–we are graced with moments of gut feel. After all the thinking and the consideration of options. After all the discernment. There are moments where a choice just grips us tightly in its hands. And gives us the conviction to say YES- or NO.

And we jump. With faith and hope.

And we fly.

one cannot question the existence of feelings; they are there, raw and undeniable. but one can choose not to nurture what is felt. yet, no matter what they say, what has been felt will always be more honest than what was chosen. hence, true realities are not built by the mind but by the heart
