Bonifacio: The First Philippine President?

This is a follow-up post about the Trillanes botched uprising. A lot has been said, for or against (mostly against) Trillanes and company.

I made a mistake when I connected Magdalo to Bonifacio. The only connection should have been the timing of the uprising–a day before Bonifacio Day.

The Magdalo faction was in fact the rival faction of Bonifacio in the Tejeros Convention–which is probable the first Presidential election. Some historians have called that election fraudulent–more proof to show that fraud and cheating in elections seems to be part and parcel of our political and cultural DNA. If that is true, then Bonifacio should have been our first President.

This is a documentary video on Andres Bonifacio on GMA’s I-WITNESS Documentaries.

“Gusto nila pagbabago? Leader nila senador na puro pa-cute at may private army na mahilig sa five-star hotel?”
