Ang Peregrino Recommends 14: Rocket Dock Software
RocketDock Software

This is another COOL software I learned about through my bestfriend Marven, who has become quite a techy person ever since he started working for the government (*snicker*).
I have become a Mac user (ahem ahem) ever since I got my Pro from the office a month ago, but I have actually been using Rocketdock (which is a Windows environment software) longer. Rocketdock for Windows is really like Mac’s own Dock but with added features that Mac’s dock doesn’t even have. The latest version even has Mac’s nifty feature that can make your minimized windows appear as icons on the dock. This allows for greater accessibility, better look and faster use.
The website proudly proclaims that “RocketDock is a smoothly animated, alpha blended application launcher. It provides a nice clean interface to drop shortcuts on for easy access and organization. With each item completely customizable there is no end to what you can add and launch from the dock.”
If you go to the website, you can even customize your Rocketdocks with added skins, cool icon choices, and docklets (you can do a Mac-ish Stacks feature, or add a digital clock in your dock, etc). What’s cool is that you can customize your dock in infinite ways to make it look different from what your friends have.
The features of the software:
- Minimize windows to the dock
- Real-time window previews in Vista
- Running application indicators
- Simple drag-n-drop interface
- Multi-monitor support
- Supports alpha-blended PNG and ICO icons
- Icons zoom and transition smoothly
- Auto-hide and Popup on mouse over
- Positioning and layering options
- Fully customizable
- Completely Portable
- ObjectDock Docklet support
- Compatible with MobyDock, ObjectDock, RK Launcher, and Y’z Dock skins
- Runs great on slower computers
- Unicode compliant
- Supports many languages and can easily be translated
- A friendly user base :)
- And best of all… its FREE!!!
