For My Mom
It’s Mother’s Day today and I’m breaking my no-post-on-weekends rule again for this special occasion.
This is for my mom, who has always been there during the most important parts of my life.
When my mom found out that I wanted to be a Jesuit, I think she was a little disappointed. She feared that I would be lost to her forever. But she dreamed my dream, and was one of those who supported me every step of the way. That was why when she found out that I was leaving the Jesuits, she also became quite disappointed. She had dreamed my dream, and she couldn’t understand why I had to change my dream in midstream.
And admittedly, I was disappointed at myself for disappointing her. But life had to go on.
And despite her disappointment, she kept on supporting me. Because to her, I was more important than my vocation.
I read somewhere that God couldn’t be everywhere, and that is why He made mothers. My mom has surely showed that to me.
Here is to my mom, who is more mother to me now than ever before.
I love you Ma!
I found this video quite funny. It’s a video of CNN’s Anderson Cooper interviewing his mom for Mother’s Day. Enjoy!
