20 Lessons I’ve Learned in Life

MusingsHere is a summary of major lessons I’ve learned in my life (so far). I know there should be more but I’m keeping the list to 20 so I don’t tangent to other things.

Read on and leave me a message below if you can relate or if you want to add your own lessons.

1. Faith is believing that something bigger than us holds us in the palm of His hands. Hope is the ability to wait things out for this kind of faith to kick in.

2. If you worry, you didn’t pray. If you pray, don’t worry. But even if you really worry, it’s ok.

3. It will always turn out better. Always.

4. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still. God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.

5. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts.

7. Love, whatever other people say, IS THE ANSWER.

8. Don’t make major decisions if you’re feeling down or depressed. Sleep over it at least one night. And don’t make major decisions if you’re feeling really happy as well. The best decisions are made in quiet, still moments. Those are the decisions you can live with for the rest of your life.

9. Blessed are the flexible, for they shall not be bent out of shape.

10. Before you can love somebody else, you really need to love yourself. If you don’t, that is recipe for relationship disaster.

11. Silence is often misinterpreted, but never misquoted.

12. One of the best talents you will ever learn in life is the ability to laugh at yourself.

13. The most important things in your home are the people.

14. Growing old is inevitable, growing up is optional, although I think it should be mandatory.

15. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open. The difference between a glass half-full and half-empty is your way of looking at it.

16. A grudge is a really heavy thing to carry and should be let go as soon as possible.

17. He who dies with the most toys might have played a lot, but is still dead.

18. We do not remember days, but moments. Life is not measured by how many breaths you take, but how many moments take your breath away.

18. Nothing is real to you until you experience it, otherwise it’s just hearsay. Parents should learn this as soon as possible.

19. Nothing is more practical than finding God. That is than falling in love in a quite absolute and final way.

20. Vocation is not about WHAT you do, or even HOW you do it, but WHO you are. Life is lived from the inside out and not from the outside in. Vocation does not come from willfullness, but from listening. Before you tell your life what truths and values you have decided to live up to, let your life tell you what truths you embody, what values you represent.
