Charice Pempengco on Oprah (Again!)
Here is one of the Philippine’s pride, Charice Pempengco. You’ve probably seen this before but it’s always good to see it again, and again. For some strange reason this made me cry when I saw it.
I think it’s because we have a sense of what it would be like to meet our own childhood hero/es, and we can relate to what she felt when she was asked by Celine Dion to sing with her in Madison Square Garden. For me it would be like being asked to play one on one with Larry Bird (other people would probably want to play with Michael Jordan, but I am a Celtics fan through and through). We cry because we saw her innocent emotions laid bare; while older people would hold it back, children don’t. We cry because we know that miracles like that doesn’t happen often, but it happened to this little Filipina girl who is pure talent and perseverance. We cry because deep in our hearts we want to believe that dreams do come true…
