By next week, I would have transferred to a new condo unit nearer my office. Transferring there will mark a major change in my life. It feels great to know that what I pay for it will lead me towards eventually owning it. I’m excited about this transition and I’m excited about fixing the place.
My sister—who does interior design on the side– is also coming to live with me and fix the place. My sis is a natural—she just has this innate knack for color and taste and order and I’m very confident about her interior design skills. You should see how she has designed our house in Cagayan de Oro. It has evolved so much from when we first transferred there 15 years ago.
In anticipation of this change, I have been checking out Apartment Therapy quite often the past couple of weeks to get design ideas. Time Magazine named Apartment Therapy one of the Top 50 Wesbites of 2008. It was founded by Maxwell Gillingham-Ryan with his brother Oliver.
It is Apartment Therapy’s mission to “Help people make their homes more beautiful, organized and healthy by connecting them to a wealth of resources, ideas and community online.” They believe (and I am a convert too!) that:
(a) A calm, healthy, beautiful home is a necessary foundation for happiness and success in the world, (b) Creating this home doesn’t require large amounts of money or space. It requires inspiration, connection to resources and motivation to do something about it.
© The basic elements of good home design can be learned and achieved by all. And
(d) Simplicity and luxury are not mutually exclusive.
And if you want more ideas, check out Apartment Therapy’s sister sites: Ohdeedoh (for kid friendly home ideas), TheKitchn (for recipes and tips on entertaining), Unplggd (for the best of home technology and how it could be incorporated into your decor), and Re-Nest (for earth-friendly home designs and ideas).
For the great interior ideas and for helping all of us create a healthier and more beautiful home, AngPeregrino Recommends Apartment Therapy this week.
