Ang Peregrino Recommends 60: Church Simplified

I first heard about them when my officemates gave me rave reviews about their experience of a different kind of Station of the Cross in Bonifacio Highstreet (see video below). I eventually became a facebook fan, and as with many things facebook, the rest is history (hehe). I found myself resonating with many things they espouse, and while I cannot talk about their philosophy and theology at length since I have not joined any of their services myself, I think the concept of a Church that is simple, open to very creative ideas, and one that does not proselytize, is a real breath of fresh air, and something that appeals to me.
This is what they have to say in their Facebook Page: To the jaded, the cynic, and the seeker, we’re not here to force-feed you our world view.
We encourage thinking about your faith, and not just living by what we say.
We believe that everyone from the staunchest Christian to the most steadfast atheist is on a spiritual journey, and that the essence of church should simply be people deciding to take that journey together.
No matter who or where you are — no matter what you’ve done or what you dream of doing, we hope you’ll take a walk with us.
I think key to this whole “movement” is that it is by thinking people–people who reflect about what they believe in. People brave and strong enough to even question long-held truths and tradition. When people think, and ask themselves and others about their faith, it makes the journey more authentic; in fact, only then can a real journey take place.
