Due to insistent public demand, I am making a second list to add to the original list of The Ten Most Memorable Commercials on Philippine TV.

These are by no means commercials of an inferior kind. These are additions to that list.

The first video is a mixture of many different commercials. I think it’s a really good video so I’m including it here.

10. McDonalds: Gina and Karen (Around the year 2000)
More popularly known as the “Gina and Karen commercial”

This is one of the catchiest commercial of McDonalds in the Philippines. The conversation between the grandfather and Karen tugs at the heart because it plays on the value of family and the importance of being “favorite”. McDonalds is still churning out really great commercials until now. The ones with Sharon Cuneta is worthy of note as well. But for sheer nostalgic trip, Gina/Karen tops the list.

9. Smart: Pagsubok (2006)

These are two commercials for Smart–one third of the BIG THREE Telecommunication companies in the Philippines– with the same theme: PAGSUBOK or TRIALS. These two featured here are beautiful, and hits home with its message of love and gratitude.

8. Milo: Bea Lucero (1980s)
More popularly known as “the one with Bea Lucero”

Bea Lucero was a gymnast for the country when she was younger. She came back as a tae kwon do fighter and could have won the Philippines its first gold medal in the Olympics if Tae Kwon Do was not a demonstration sports at the time. The Milo theme (Great things start from small beginnings…) is classic and as long as there are kids who aspire to be athletes, there will be Milo to support them.

7. Fita: I Hate Me (2005)
More popularly known as “that funny I Hate Me commercial”

This is one funny commercial. Plays on the Filipino penchant for coming in late and making excuses. When you don’t want to be scolded, you scold yourself first. Hehehe.

6. Fita: Kahilingan (2007)
More popularly known as “the one with one half of a red ferrari”

Another Fita ad. Another one that uses humor to make a point. You laugh for awhile. And then you stop and think.

5. Philippine Airlines: Shining Through (1980s)
More popularly known as “the beauty of the Philippines is shining through”

Classic TV ad that shows off the Philippines. Great music and great cinematography. You will watch this commercial and you will not be able to stop from singing. Was a subject for Last Song Syndrome many years ago.

4. Biogesic: Ingat! (2008)
More popularly known as “the John Lloyd Cruz INGAT commercial”

This is one of the first of a series of commercials with John Lloyd Cruz using the catchy Filipino greeting, “INGAT!” (or “TAKE CARE!”). When you hear someone saying INGAT now, the first thing that comes to mind is BIOGESIC and JOHN LLOYD CRUZ. That’s how powerful the commercial is.

3. Greenwich: Sobrang Cheeeesssy! (2009)
More popularly known as “the BAGAY TAYO, bagay commercial”

Funny funny commercial with John Lloyd “Ingat” Cruz and his on-screen partner Bea. The commercial plays on what is corny and makes you laugh and cringe and shout CHEEEEESSSSY! And hopefully buy Greenwhich Pizza after.

2. Palmolive: I Can Feel It (1987)
More popularly known as “the one with Alice Dixson”

If San Miguel Beer’s commercials brought Rachel Lobangco and Ina Raymundo into fame, this is the commercial that brought a young Alice Dixson into the forefront of Philippine public consciousness. She was really cute then as she is beautiful now. And her “I can feel it!” line is still one of the most memorable lines in Philippine commercial history.

And due to insistent PUBLIC DEMAND, with so many people singing to it and the mentions in YouTube, Facebook and even Twitter, our number one is:

1. Bulilit: Camella Homes (2009)
More popularly known as the “bulilit commercial”

One of the most beloved and cute commercials of 2009, Camella Homes hit it big with a simple catchy tune, an unknown but genuinely cute kid, and a great concept. In the end, that is the formula for a great and memorable commercial.
