Read­abil­ity is a project by Arc90 Lab. It is a very sim­ple but effec­tive tool that removes the clut­ter from web­sites and makes you go straight to read­ing the arti­cle you want to read. It removes pho­tos, columns, flash videos, and with genius nifty cod­ing, con­verts the page you are read­ing into some­thing more read­able and beautiful.

It’s so easy to install. You just go to their web­site. Choose among the fol­low­ing settings:

• Style: News­pa­per, Novel, Ebook and Terminal
• Size: Small, Medium, Large and ExtraLarge
• Mar­gin: Nar­row, Medium, Wide, Extrawide

[I per­son­ally use Novel, Small, and Nar­row as my set­tings.] And then just drag the READABILITY book­marklet into your browser’s tool­bar. When you find a web­site worth read­ing, sim­ply click the READABILITY book­marklet and it will auto­mat­i­cally con­vert the webpage.

I’ve used this as a way to unclut­ter what I’m read­ing on the web and I’ve found it to be very help­ful. It keeps me from stray­ing to things that would detract me from the actual read­ing material–like ads, or flash videos, or any­thing that is click­able that would bring me to another page. It keeps me focused to the task at hand, and only that.
