Craziest Things In Boxing and MMA

I am a fight fan. I watch boxing a lot. One of my earliest memories was my father bringing me to our boxing “coliseum” (I think it was really a cockpit that was converted into a boxing venue with the strapping of a ring) when I was 4 or 5 years old. It was fight night (and way past my bedtime). I don’t remember the fight, who the fighters were, or who won. But there was the unmistakable feel of excitement among the crowd as they cheered the boxers on. I also watched Mike Tyson kick the living hell out of Spinks’ ass in a little under 90 seconds in one of the few restaurants that had satellite tv in our place back in the day.

I’ve followed Filipino boxers from Rolando “The Bad Boy from Dadiangas” Navarrete (I saw him get knocked out in the 12th round by Rafael “Bazooka” Limon). I saw Luisito Espinosa give a boxing clinic to Manuel Medina and then get knocked out in the Araneta Coliseum–the same famed venue of the Thrilla in Manila– by Israel Contreras. Now, watching Manny Pacquiao fights is a reunion of sorts among us friends. I’ve watched his fights, written boxing articles and I’ve even given my two cents in boxing forums. I think Floyd Mayweather is good but his legacy is tainted because he’s just chicken. (sorry, just had to put that in. hehehe)

But boxing is crazy. Case in point is this video here:

Monte Barret is funny as hell. Hahaha!

And just when you think only boxing can come up with funny stunts like that, here’s a video of the MMA, proving that funny is not the exclusive turf of men with oversized gloves:
