The guy is one of my own per­sonal heroes. I talk about him in Ser­vice Excel­lence train­ings I con­duct. When I was in Cebu, I met and became friends with Mrs. Lily Ngo Chua who is John Gokongwei’s only sis­ter. She is also very astute, sim­ple and fun to be with. She even had the gra­cious­ness to host my fam­ily in their hotel in Cebu when my fam­ily vis­ited me for Sin­u­log two years ago.

I grew up watch­ing the series Won­der Woman on a local chan­nel. It starred Linda Carter (fun­fact: she was sup­posed to be 1st run­ner up to Fil­ip­ina Miss Uni­verse Margie Moran Flo­rendo) who had a great tanned body and looked ever so con­vinc­ing as the Ama­zon goddess.

It seems like some­thing hap­pened in this par­tic­u­lar elec­tion. For some rea­son, we have all become wiser (or at least we have all become less apa­thetic). Or prob­a­bly wiser to the gim­ickry of our politi­cians. The Fil­ipino is really start­ing to think–probably because of a deep-seated anger at what’s hap­pen­ing to us, or prob­a­bly because everyone’s tired of being vic­tim­ized by the pol­i­tics of per­son­al­i­ties.
