Commencement Address to Stanford University, 2005 by Steve Jobs

[8 Apr 2008 | 0 Comments | ]

The season of graduation and grad speeches have just ended last week. In the philippines, the school year begins on June and ends in March, so graduations are usually celebrated end of March. Here’s one more grad speech–this time by the “great” Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer and of Pixar Animation Studios.

Steve Jobs Commencement Address, Stanford University, 2005

I am honored to be with you today at your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. I never graduated from college. Truth be told, this is the closest …

[11 Mar 2008 | 0 Comments | ]

You may not know the guy, and you may not have heard of this before, but this is one great lecture. The one I’m posting here is just a summary of it. If you want to watch the full lecture, go to YouTube and search for Randy Pausch — Last Lecture.

Things are coming to a head once again. I do not know if there’s going to be any mass action in the next couple of days or what will trigger it; but the atmosphere is like the one just before EDSA II. If anything, this whole thing is making the Filipino more educated about politics, more voracious …

CBCP Pastoral Statement: Seeking the Truth, Restoring Integrity

[27 Feb 2008 | 0 Comments | ]

Seeking the Truth, Restoring Integrity(A CBCP Pastoral Statement)
Beloved People of God:
Greetings in the peace of the Lord!
Today in the midst of restlessness and confusion, we come to you as pastors, for that is our precise role. We do not come as politicians whose vocation it is to order society towards the common good. Our message contributes to the flourishing of a democracy which must not be built only on political formulae.
We face today a crisis of truth and the pervading cancer of corruption. We must seek the truth and we must restore …
