Horror gripped the heart of the World War I soldier as he saw his lifelong friend fall in battle. Caught in a trench with continuous gunfire whizzing over his head, the soldier asked his lieutenant if he might go out into the “No Man’s Land” between the trenches to bring his fallen comrade back.

“You can go,” said the Lieutenant, “but I don’t think it will be worth it. Your friend is probably dead and you may throw your own life away.” The Lieutenant’s words didn’t matter, and the soldier went anyway.

Some cool stories are just meant to be shared. This is one of those. Stories of hope abound in a world filled with despair and pain. We just need to look for ways to find them and make them impact our lives.

Impossible is nothing. :-)

XDRTB.org is an extraordinary effort to tell the story of extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB) and TB through powerful photographs taken by James Nachtwey. XDR-TB, or extremely drug-resistant tuberculosis, is a new and deadly mutation of tuberculosis. Similar in creation to multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) but more extreme in its manifestation, it arises when common tuberculosis goes untreated or standard TB drugs are misused. James’ photographs represent these varying strains. Learn more about TB, MDR-TB and XDR-TB, and learn how you can take action to stop this deadly disease.

This is from my email archives and was sent to me several months ago. With the Ateneo win in the UAAP, I read this with new eyes and with a better and more profound appreciation of my alma mater. Other people will never fully understand, but it is basketball that brings us all together. It is our bane and our boon. And while basketball and the seemingly crazy hype of the Ateneo-La Salle games are what people see in the news, our two schools are so much more than that. I hope this article will make people see a deeper side of Ateneo de Manila. This is what is behind the blue eagle, and the adidas shirts, the basketball superstars, and the blue babble battalion.

Have you seen how Steve Jobs presents his keynotes? Wow. He is not your typical, loud, eloquent speaker. But he’s really fundamentally sound and he’s really good at bringing his point across. I think he’s one of the coolest speakers I know. It helps that he has had really good products to sell.

Something I got years ago from the mail. Kids say the darnedest things!

NUDITY: I was driving with my three young children one warm summer evening when a woman in the convertible ahead of us stood up and waved. She was stark naked! As I was reeling from the shock, I heard my five-year-old shout from the back seat, “Mom! That lady isn’t wearing a seat belt!”

TOILETS: My son Zachary, 4, came screaming out of the bathroom to tell me he’d dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. So I fished it out and threw it in the garbage. Zachary stood there thinking for a moment, then ran to my bathroom and came out with my tooth-brush. He held it up and said with a charming little smile, “We better throw this one out too then, ’cause it fell in the toilet a few days ago.”

This is an example of a love story–that’s supposed to end really well–gone bad. Sometimes, not everything ends happily ever after. But you know that already.

CANBERRA (Reuters) - A modern-day love story of a man spotting the girl of his dreams across a New York subway train and tracking her down over the Internet has failed to have a fairytale ending with the relationship over.

For Web designer Patrick Moberg, then 21, from Brooklyn, it was love at first sight when he spotted a woman on a Manhattan train last November. But he lost her in the crowd so he set up a website with a sketch to find her — www.nygirlofmydreams.com.

Here is one of the Philippine’s pride, Charice Pempengco. You’ve probably seen this before but it’s always good to see it again, and again. For some strange reason this made me cry when I saw it.

This has been making the rounds of emails since the last Ateneo-La Salle game in the elimination round. And since it’s going to be an Ateneo-La Salle Classic Finals this year starting with a slambang Game 1 this Sunday, it would be good to brush up again on our Ateneo-La Salle game. Not sure who made this but would love to know so I can give you a byline.
