Blast From the Recent Past 2: Heaven Knows [Rick Price]

I am not sure if Rick Price was a one-hit wonder. But I do not know any other song by Rick Price except for this one. And this one was a real hit. I was second year high school when it hit the airwaves.

Heaven Knows may sound corny now, but it didn’t when I was growing up. :-)

Blast From the Recent Past 1: You Were There [Southern Sons]

This is the first of a series of posts on songs from my recent past, which means popular songs when I was growing up in the 90’s.

You Were There was something that became a hit when I was in 4th year high school (circa 1995). That was a time of idealism and hope and love. When you’re high school, it seemed like you have the world in the palm of your hands and anything is possible. This song hearkens back to that time in my life.

Terry Fator!

Terry Fator is known as The Human Jukebox because he is capable of making over 100 ventriloquial impersonations. He uses 16 different puppets for his shows. The videos here are from the 2nd season of America’s Got Talent which he won.
He has revolutionized Ventriloquism and he is one of my most favorite performers. The [...]

No Air

This is Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown performing my newest favorite song on American Idol. I love the rhythm, the music and the lyrics.
The music video of this song is even better. Click here for the music video.

Bluer than Blue — Regine Velasquez Cover

This is one classic break up song. I heard it on the taxi on the way home from work and wanted to write about it. I just love this version by Regine Velasquez. Regine has gone through bad break-ups and “bad” relationships where she was seen as the other woman who broke up couples. She’s [...]

Steep

It’s a Sunday and I’m not even supposed to post anything today. But I just had to post this video I found on YouTube. It’s Nina’s version of Steep which was a Lauren Christy original. The song is poignant and sad and makes you wanna cry (hehe). And I love this version by Nina. For [...]

My Immortal

These are scenes from the Passion of the Christ done mtv-style with the song by Evanescence, My Immortal.
Below is a short sermon by the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams. He is one of the great theologians of the Anglican Church.

Everything by Lifehouse

This video’s really good. I heard this song for the first time in an episode of Smallville (I think it was Clark and Lana dancing during their prom).
It’s by Lifehouse–who rose to prominence with their song Hanging by a Moment in 2000.
While the video can be really kitsch-y (is there such a word?!) and hard-sell, [...]

Seal: Duet with Heidi at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Some of my friends were complaining what Heidi Klum could have seen in Seal to marry the guy (and I heard they have a happy marriage!). I told them to just listen to the guy. If a guy sings like that to a woman, I think any (sane) woman would marry him too.
Here’s Heidi and [...]

Connie Talbot, 6 year old phenom!

This is from the Finals of Britain’s Got Talent. Paul Potts may have won the competition, but Connie’s performance is worthy of note as well; if only for the fact that she sang so purely and perfectly for a six year old. Enjoy the voice of an angel!

1. Paul Potts in Finals of BGT2. Somewhere [...]
