I have this new Damien Rice semi-obsession. I first heard this song in the L Word, which is an officemate’s favorite sit­com. When I was look­ing for the song, that’s when I found out that it was part of the sound­track for the movie CLOSER.
CLOSER deserves another set of dis­cus­sion alto­gether.
But for now, I’d like to set my sights on the song. This is very soul­ful and angst-filled and I can just imag­ine lis­ten­ing to this song while drink­ing a bot­tle of beer in a dark room with red lights. …

Yellow

I’ve always loved Cold­play. Started lis­ten­ing to them around col­lege time. And this was the first song that made me sit up and notice. I remem­ber that when I first heard it, I thought they sounded like Radio­head and/or Count­ing Crows. And then they really started mak­ing their own brand of music. “Shiver” and “Trou­ble” came along and of course, “In My Place” became some sort of anthem for me (will blog about it next time).
