If You’re Not the One
Several years ago when I was still based at the Ateneo, a friend of mine kept singing this song to me. I don’t know why. She probably liked me. hahaha. But i do like the song, if only because it speaks of a seemingly unrequited love that is willing to wait and is willing to question the set rules and is willing to fight for love.
There are typical love stories–the ones written about in books and shown in movies. The ones where life is a struggle but we as …

Umbrella by Rihanna performed by Marie Digby
I actually first heard this song when a front desk associate of our company sang it early morning Thursday. She got the guard’s radio, pressed the call button and serenaded the guards. She sang it so well that I just had to ask her the title of the song.
I learned it was sung by Rihanna, although Cris Brown did his own version (changing the chorus from “You can stand under my umbrella” to “You can be my Cinderella.”) and Mandy Moore also recorded her own version which was eventually used …

Ikaw — by the University of Pardubice Choir and the Ateneo Glee Club
One of my all-time favorite songs. There’s supposed to be a great story behind the song — George Canseco was supposed to have written this for his dying wife. But even without the story, you’ll feel just by listening to it, that there is great love behind the song. The lyrics and the melody is haunting and makes you fall in love over and over again.
And I love how the University of Pardubice Czech Choir and the Ateneo Glee Club “conspired” to come up with this wonderful version. I got …

You and Me Song
This is from the movie Romeo + Juliet. A new favorite. Nix made me listen to it last night since this is Randell and her theme song.
I love the beat and the fact that it sounds like a 70’s song that turns into a 90’s song when you reach the chorus. hehe.
It’s about couples fighting. And how we try to do stupid, funny, cute things to make up. And how we smile and laugh about the fight afterwards. Because after a while, you both realize that nothing is greater–not even …

Catch Me I’m Falling
I kept hearing this song on the radio on the way to work or on the way home. I didn’t even know it was a Filipina singer who sang this song until I saw the video. Come to think of it, I didn’t even know Toni Gonzaga sang! She’s this girl who was really funny while trying to sound serious on Wazzup Wazzup. But she sings well. And the tune is catchy.
It’s not exactly LSS (last song syndrome) material, but it’s good. I hope, for her sake, that she’s …
