We know that clothes do not make a person; but it does help. And it’s always great to know how to take care of clothes so they last longer. Having said that, let us remember what Albert Einstein once said, “If most of us are ashamed of shabby clothes and shoddy furniture, let us be more ashamed of shabby ideas and shoddy philosophies.… It would be a sad situation if the wrapper were better than the meat wrapped inside it.”
I was born at the tail-end of Martial Law. I have very vague memories of it. I would have to say that i did not have a first hand information of it. I heard stories from my dad, but that was about it. I distinctly remember seeing the images of Ninoy Aquino being shot on the tarmac of the airport that will eventually bear his name (poetic justice!). Oh, as an aside, I am writing this while I’m in Ninoy Aquino International Airport! How appropriate!
It’s funny how it took a psychologist Herbert Simon to give what I think is the best definition of what a designer is: ‘Everyone designs who devises courses of action aimed at changing existing situations into preferred ones.’
Changing what exists into what is preferred. Changing what is, to something beautiful. That is what a designer does. That is who he is.
For all my friends who blog, are starting to blog or have been blogging for a long time, this post is for you.
This is a beautiful version by Gary Valenciano, one of the premier performers in the Philippines. I think this is one of the best versions, probably even better than the original. What do you think?
Oh, and please try to be patient with the cheeeeeesy video. Just listen to the song. Hahaha!
